European transport hub (3’14’’) - Duet with Simone Keller (Schwyzerörgeli Accordion)
Original field recording details: 15/09/2019, Outside Main Station, Bern, Switzerland.
This is extracted from a stereo recording @ 48/24 made with omni microphones.
Simone wrote: ‘Experienced with all kinds of keyboard instruments I have never played a button accordion before. During the coronavirus crisis I started to learn the traditional "Schwyzerörgeli" which is a small Swiss folk music accordion. "Örgeli" is the diminutive form of the word "Orgel" (organ) and it has 18 bass buttons arranged in two rows and 31 treble buttons arranged in 3 rows. The Schwyzerörgeli has a unique tuning called "Schwyzerton". Three sets of reeds on each button create a kind of tremolo sound. I concentrated on the breathing sound of the bellows combined with high sinus sound like noise which blended with the field-recordings of the tramway in the capital of Switzerland.’

Swiss pianist Simone Keller performs as a soloist and chamber musician in a wide variety of formations and styles, with lively concert activity in Switzerland and many other countries.
2014 she co-founded ox&öl (www.oxoel.ch) a music and theatre company which also develops the latest forms of education projects for children, elderly people, refugees, juvenile offenders or mentally disabled people.
